Grupo Mayan Dealing with Golf Slices

One of the most frustrating and embarrassing things a beginner or intermediate golfer often has to deal with is the slice.  Golfers that have to deal with slices, often begin to lose interest in the game and no longer have fun.  Many golfers will begin to despise this great game because of their inability to deal with the slice.  Grupo Mayan experts have some suggestions on how to avoid the slice and how to fix it.

If you have tried to fix the problem before, consider some of the most common mistakes people try to do to fix the slice.  Sometimes golfers will overcompensate and try to aim to compensate for if they are right or left handed.  Aiming to the left for right hander and aiming to the right for left hander people will only cause you to slice even wilder in the wrong direction.  You might try to fix the slice by rotating your chest instead of your hips.  This type of motion may help out randomly, but it is not a long-term consistent fix for the slice.

Avoid the inside out swing to cut down slices.  If you do this type of action, the clubface will be open at the point of impact forcing the ball to the right.  Grupo Mayan experts reveal that many people will attempt this as a short term fix as well.  However, you will only be putting yourself in more danger from physical damage and not fixing the root of the problem.

Perhaps you place the ball further ahead when we all recognize that the ball should be placed inside of the lead foot.  Placing the ball ahead is done because a golfer hopes to be able to hit the ball square.  However, once again this shortcut does not fix the problem and will only provide temporary help.

These types of actions are often only a quick fix and do not address the root of the problem.  You need to have a golfing professional observe your stance and technique to help you determine what you are doing wrong.  Once the determination has been made, you can work on the technique and you will be able to say goodbye to slicing for the last time.

Grupo Mayan experts often help guest to figure out what they may be doing wrong and provide excellent help to help you break the slicing habit.

Get Your Swing On and Improve Your Score

At some point, almost all people who love to play golf end up in a plateau of not being able to improve on their swing, say the Grupo Mayan experts in this sport.  Even the pros get to that point on more than one occasion and they go so far as to hire swing coaches.

The golf swing is like a well-oiled machine, all of the components play a part and they all have to mesh together in order to work.  Understanding each function of your swing is a good way to start improving on it.

The game of golf can take an extremely long time for most people to master, say the Grupo Mayan experts, but with patience, practice and time, just like anything else you will learn it and learn it well.

The levels of a golf swing that you should always be focussed on are your grip, your stance, the positioning of your hands in accordance with your arms, your alignment and a positive attitude.
One of the best techniques Grupo Mayan experts could advise anyone to try is to watch the professionals because they have been at it a lot longer and they have a better technique than most.  When you watch them swing the club, then try to copy their movements instead of trying to remember all of the things you should and shouldnít do.

When you use this technique and just try to imitate the movements, it allows you to clear your thoughts and gives you more freedom for an easier flowing swing.  One of the biggest obstacles to overcome in any sport is being overwhelmed by technique and trying to concentrate on every movement for a better play or better shot.

If you have the ability to get your mind quiet and focus on the shot itself imagining where you want your shot to go and where you want the ball to land and less focus on all the technicalities behind the shot, you will also have a smoother, more fluid like shot that will look less by the book and that makes it a lot easier to hit the ball properly every time.

Keeping these tips in mind and implementing them, say the Grupo Mayan golf professionals, will surely help you improve each time you head out to the greens and then just continuing to practice on your shot and eventually, you might even find yourself entering some tournaments and even winning money or recognition for your efforts.

Grupo Mayan A Brief History Lesson on Golf

There are so many ways you can give yourself a history lesson on golf these days, with magazines and a cable channel that is nothing but golf, all day and all night.  This is just a brief history about the game and some of the more historical highlights, provided by the Golf experts within the Grupo Mayan Resorts.

The history of golf has been dated back all the way to the Scottish land as far back as the 15th century when King James II declared the game a national pastime.  There is no doubt that the Scottish people created this game and established the history of this game.

The game was banned by King James III and in 1502, his son King James IV being the avid golfer that he was, say the Grupo Mayan experts, decided to lift that ban and he was later going to be the first man ever to purchase an entire set of clubs as well as be the first man to ever play an actual game documented in 1504 against the Earl of Bothwell.

Eventually, say the Grupo Mayan experts, the game of golf swept across Britain but with the low wages of the earners back then, most men spent all of their time working with no leisure and the game almost completely disappeared and if it had not been for the Freemasons, it would have.  One of the first golfing associations was the St. Andrews Golf Club that was established in 1754.  We can attribute most of the way this game is played to that club as they are the ones that established the 18-hole course and some of the first initial rules of the game.

In the early 1800ís, the odd part of golf history is that, not many men made money from playing the game as they do today.  The actual people who made money back then were the caddys, say the Grupo Mayan experts, who were actually considered the experts of the game who just played it for hobby.  They were the ones who knew the best strategies and best equipment to use, as well as most of the developed courses.

There was a famous caddy, his name was David Robertson and he had a son that developed their own golf balls which were made of soft leather on the outside and feathers on the inside so that the ball would be lighter and go further.

By the 19th century, say the Grupo Mayan experts, the game took on full force in America and became very popular.  Starting from immigrants from Scotland who made their way to New York, the game courses were starting to pop up everywhere and Chicago is home to the very first 18-hole course.  After the game caught on real well in America, the PGA was formed in 1916, which was to be the governing body of the game.

Grupo Mayan Resorts: Tips to Improve Your Chipping Style

Most people who are around the world of golf have heard the terms of pitching, chipping and putting which all improve your overall game but not often do you find many golfers who take chipping in their game as an advantage as well as, an important part to a lower score.

Most golfers are open to any and all suggestions that will improve their shots and their game as well and with chipping you can master your performance, say the Grupo Mayan golf professionals, because there is a series of techniques with the chip shot that will make a shot on the green successful if you have good follow-through.

Choosing the best club for a chip shot is a very fundamental part of the technique, according to the Golf professionals within the Grupo Mayan Resorts, because getting conditioned to just sticking to one club will hinder your chances at improving.  In order to choose the right club, you have to consider the type of green you are on and its slope.

Typically, most golfers like to use a 7 or 8 iron to perform a chip shot, but what some fail to remember, is depending on the green, a 5 iron can prove to be better for the shot with a better result.

Once you have cleared your mind and have it set on a specific mark, it is time to put your shot into action and this is where taking the green and slope come into play.  You have to adjust the power behind your shot according to the green, say the Grupo Mayan experts, in order to deliver the ball to where you pictured it would be.

Another thing to concentrate on would be your fly and roll which is where a golfer wants to control the fly aim to where the ball flies as short of a distance as possible but maintain a good roll on the ball.  For example, if you were to choose to do a chip shot with a 10 iron, which is also called a pitching wedge, the ball will fly half of the distance and then roll the rest of the way.  Choosing an iron for uphill versus downhill shots is also important for your chip shot, say the Grupo Mayan experts.  If you are facing an uphill shot the best iron would be best accomplished with a 4 iron, while a downhill shot requires less speed so an 8 iron would be best for this shot.

You will also find that your positioning is a factor in a chip shit because where your weight is placed in conjunction with your lead foot.  When you are in this position, say the Grupo Mayan experts, your ball should be in the middle of your feet with your hands slightly aligned to be in front of the ball.  Keeping your wrist strong and in place so that there is not a breakdown in motion as you swing for the ball is important.  In your mind, if you mimic the sway of a pendulum, this would be the best way to follow through on a chip shot.

Grupo Mayan Resorts: Putting Tips for a Better Score

A lot of people who are well into golf, already know that nine times out of ten, the good game comes from the best person who knows how to put because usually, say the Grupo Mayan experts, the win of the game always comes down to a put instead of a hole-in-one.

Most golfers will also tell you that if you miss a put, it can do just as much damage to your score as a 200-yard drive and cost you a lot of strokes in the process.

These following putting tips, say the Grupo Mayan experts, will help you lower your score as well as get you into the habit of practicing on your put as much as you practice on your swing for long drives.

It is always a good idea to familiarize yourself with the greens that you will be playing at most often because each hole and its surrounding areas will have their own uniqueness and learning where each shot should go prior to trying to achieve your par is the best strategy.

When you are ready to start reading the lines of your put, it is a good idea to keep some things in mind such as the position of the sun because that usually is what will help you determine the speed and break of your putt.  The reason the sun becomes involved is because the grass is constantly growing, it never stops, and grass also always grows into the direction of the sun.  If the sun is to the west as the ball gets closer to the hole, then it will veer off to the west.  If the sun is behind you then the grass will be pointing towards you and this means you will be putting against the grain of the grass and that will slow your ball down, whereas, say the Grupo Mayan experts, if you are putting with the grain, it speeds the ball up.

Some less serious golfers usually start their put out by positioning their feet first to the ball and then putting the club head behind the ball for the shot, say the Grupo Mayan experts.  The best method is to square the head of the club behind the ball first and then do the stance so that you can be properly squared with the hole.

Hopefully, say the Grupo Mayan experts, these tips will help improve your par and get a better read on your game play so you can improve each time you go out to the greens.

Grupo Mayan Resorts: Golf Tips for the Beginner Golfer

When most people start out trying to learn how to play golf, say the Grupo Mayan golf professionals, it is natural for beginners to find all of the tips and tricks to the game that they can.  When you are watching the pros play, it is easy to think that the game itself is easy because after all, you are just hitting a ball in a small hole, right?

Golf is definitely one of those games that is deceptive in the way of ease and this is probably something you have already found out.  One of the best things to keep in mind is regardless of the tips and tricks you learn along the way, the bottom line is, you have to find the style that works best for you.  Your game will end up being as individual as you are.

Taking professional lessons is a good start, say the Grupo Mayan experts, but you will still eventually adapt to your own style instead of the style of the instructor.  Take time and keep your patience about you because learning this game takes a ton of both.

There are actually golf professionals that offer their own instruction packages to help get you started to make sure that you understand the basics and what you need to know such as your stance, your grip and your swing.  From that point, you can build your own style and learn your own tricks and habits that will keep you on top of your game.  Remember that when you learn a bad habit, it takes twice as long to unlearn it.

Some of the things a beginner needs to know before hitting the greens would be golf etiquette, say the Grupo Mayan experts.  There is etiquette to almost everything in life and golf is no exception.  There are some basic rules to remember.  The first is to never talk while someone is ready to swing and hit the ball. This is considered extremely rude and can interfere with the golfers swing hindering their game.  Never cut in front of another player, you should always be courteous and let the player ahead of you take on the next hole.  Watching where you are walking is also important because if you are in the line of sight of another golfer this is considered very rude.  Lastly, and this is a really big one, if the green in front of you is clear, always allow faster players in front of you.  Holding up their game is considered just as rude as cutting in front of a player.  If they have good etiquette too, they will allow you to play ahead.

To preserve your pride of embarrassment, say the Grupo Mayan experts, it is also a good idea to get some practice in before hitting the green.  You can practice in your own back yard or at a driving range.

These tips are a good start for you and the rest will come to you with time and patience.

Grupo Mayan Resorts: Choosing a Golf Travel Case

Once most golfers become regular players, say the Grupo Mayan experts in this sport, they find that the golf travel case is one of the most important parts of their equipment and having just the right one is as equally important.

For some, when choosing the right case, you might run across the dilemma of choosing the one that is not too big, not too small because going with one that is too big becomes a burden and then getting one too small renders it virtually useless to you which negates the reason you purchased one in the first place.

There are several different sizes, colors and designs to choose from so finding the one that is visually appealing as well as one that fits your needs should be no problem, say the professional Grupo Mayan golf players, as long as you take the time to try different ones out.  It is almost like trying on a pair of shoes, it’s advisable to keep in mind how much space you need and then walk around with it, take it for a test drive so to speak.

It is a good idea while looking at a golf case that you look at all of the features that it has because some may have more storage than others and depending on your needs, you might want to purchase one that has as much storage as possible because you just never know what you might need to take with you for your day of golf.  If you are on a vacation and plan on golfing while on vacation, a golf case is a must have.  You will find that the greens you choose to go to are not always very close to the place you are staying and furthermore, most greens have their clubhouse far enough away from the start of the course that you need something to carry all of your equipment in.

There are several golfers, for whatever reason, that choose to use a golf cart when playing so the need for a golf case is less however, a smaller one can still be handy.  For the most part, say the Grupo Mayan experts, choosing a golf case is just about as individual as you are and needs to fit your style like a glove.

Grupo Mayan experts do not recommend purchasing this item online as this is what they refer to as a hands on purchase, after all, you cannot test drive it on the internet.  It might look good, the price might be right, but what if you order it and it gets to your home and it does not feel right to you, then you have wasted time and money because you will want to return it.  So it is better off just to seek out a golf case at a store where you can touch, feel and carry it around the store to see if it suits your personal style.

Grupo Mayan Resorts: William Earl Casper

William Billy Casper was born on June 24 1931, in San Diego California. 1954 was the year Billyís pro career began. The 1950ís to 1970s saw him shine in the golf profession. Grupo Mayan experts in Golf tell us that he won the most PGA Tour tournaments during this period.

Billy won 27 tournaments during 1964 to 1970. This performance is better than that of great golfers like Gary Player or Jack Nicklaus. For the first three years of McCormackís World golf rankings, he finished position three. He is the seventh best golfer of all times in the world rankings. In 1979, say the Grupo Mayan experts, he was captain of the Ryder cup and is referred to as the best putter. He has helped in the design of many golf courses e.g. the Palm, Eagle crest and the Highlands.

ëFamily maní is an apt way to describe Billy. He and wife Shirley are the proud parents of 11 children. He has raised them up as a Mormon. He does charitable work and even has an annual fundraiser at the San Diego country club for kids. The Golf Digest magazine ranks him as the 15th best golfer of all time.

Casper has come to have many accomplishments, say the Grupo Mayan professionals. He has won three major championships: two U.S. Opens and a Masterís Tournament in the 1970s. He has won 51 PGA Tours. He became the player of the year two times, the first in 1966 and the second in 1970. He is a two-time winner of the PGA Tour money winner. He won the Vardon Trophy for five times in the 1960s. He was in the USA team 8 times for the Ryder cup since 1961 to 1975. He became the US player with the most points in this tournament. He also has 9 wins from the Champions Tour during 1982 to 1989.

He made an albatross in 1971 at the 14th hole in the Crans Golf Club. There is a plate on the 14th hole to commemorate this achievement. Finally, say the Grupo Mayan experts in Golf, in 1978 Casper was inducted into the World Golf Hall of fame.

Grupo Mayan Resorts: The Proper Golf Position

The most important - and frequently ignored - full swing fundamental in golf is the setup position, say the Grupo Mayan experts in this sport. Here is detailed guide to show you how to achieve a good golf setup.

Alignment
At the beginning of the set up, say the Grupo Mayan experts, the body should be in a parallel position to target line. When viewed from behind, a golfer who is right-handed will a bit aimed to the left side of his or her target. The ball being on the target line while the body is not creates this type of optical illusion.

The easiest way to make this sink is the image of a railroad track. The body is on the inside rail while the ball is on the outside rail. For the right-handers, at 100 yards one’s body will appear being aligned approximately three to five yards left, at 150 yards approximately eight to ten yards left and at 200 yards 12 to 15 yards left.

Foot Position
The feet are supposed to be the width of the shoulder for the middle irons, say the Grupo Mayan experts. The short iron stance should be about 5cms narrower while the one for irons that are long and woods clubs must be about 5cms wider. The target-side foot is supposed to be flared toward the target from twenty to forty degrees to allow the body to rotate toward the target on the downswing. The back foot is supposed to be square (90 degrees to the line of target) to slightly open as well as create the proper hip turn on the back swing. One’s body’s flexibility and the speed of the rotation will determine the right placement of the foot.

Ball Position

The ball placement does vary with the club that one selects, according to the Grupo Mayan experts.
From a flat lie:

  • One should play his short irons (wedges, 9-iron and 8-iron) in the centre portion of his stance. These clubs’ main characteristic is that they have upright lie angles.  The right way of using them is to swing the club at an angle that is very steep, taking in front of the ball a divot.
  • One’s middle irons have to be played just a ball toward the target-side foot from centre. These clubs’ main characteristic is that they have a lie angle that is slightly flatter and the golfer should take a divot that is slightly shallower than the one done with the short irons.
  • The right position of the ball for the fairway woods clubs and the long irons ones is to have two balls toward the target-side foot from centre. With these clubs, the ball is struck directly at the bottom of the swing arc with a little divot.
  • The driver has to be played farthest on the forward in order to strike the ball on the upswing, say the Grupo Mayan experts in Golf.

Balance

One’s weight should be balanced on the balls of the feet, but not on the heels or toes. With short irons, the 60% of the body weight of the person must be on the target side foot. For middle iron shots the weight is supposed to be 50/50 or equal on each foot. For one’s longest clubs, he should place on the backside of his or her foot 60% of his or her body weight. This will help him swing the club on the right angle on the back swing, say the Grupo Mayan experts.
