Less than 96 kilometers away of the Mexico-USA border and approximately four hours driving from Phoenix, Arizona or from Mexicali´s Airport in Baja California, it is located the Grupo Mayan Golf Club in Puerto Peñasco, Sonora, one of the best resorts of the country with luxurious and high quality facilities.

The course at Grupo Mayan was designed for Jack Nicklaus and it is a real challenge for the most expert player. The bigger challenge is maybe the strong wind, because the sea breeze becomes a constant adversary to the player, who must learn to support this pressure during the 18-holes.
There is no rough, which allows a nicer game and simultaneously interesting. The most distinctive hole is on the sixth position; it is of 190 yards and has four traps of sand.
Other challenges are the seven lakes, a river and the border of the ocean. Strait fairway in 13th and 14th holes offers the opportunity to put on practice all the possible knowledge about this fancy sport.

Hole 13 has a dog-leg par 5, that along the Ameca river, the wind makes it more difficult. On the hole 14, 153 yards par 3, the ocean is on the left side and a beautiful lake in the front, at the right of the green everything is exuberance.
This is a golf course that deserves being visited, mostly because shortly will have a Golf Academy by Jack Nicklaus in the Grupo Mayan Resort.
