When you think of a golf outing, sunshine, a cool breeze, and a light windbreaker are the natural thoughts. Well Corba, a Nichalus Design course in Acapulco is taking a new stance: Night Golf. This Grupo Mayan course brought in florescent lights, LED lights, and glow in the dark golf balls to light up the course.
For the third year in a row, the Corba golf course will host the Night Tournament during the Easter season. Over 100 people will tee off at 10:00 pm for their chance at great prizes, a great experience, and quality time with friends or family. Adults and kids alike come out to take on the challenge. It has been a great event for families and friends visiting the Grupo Mayan resort.
The competitors will split up evenly and play either the front nine or the back nine holes. Due to the demand and the battery life of the portable lights, the tournament can only handle 9 holes. The players on the front nine and the players on the back nine play for evenly divided prizes ranging from free services at the Brio Spa, free rounds of golf, and other Grupo Mayan luxuries. While the scorecards are being counted, each player will have a shot at winning the Grupo Mayan grand prize. Hitting one shot from the number 10 tee box to the adjacent number 18 green, the closest ball to the pin will win an Audi car. You do not want to miss an opportunity like this at the Grupo Mayan resorts.
Come to the Mayan resorts to attempt your first round of night golf!

Grupo Mayan Resorts is working on their fifth golf course throughout Mexico. In Nuevo Vallarta, just minutes from Puerto Vallarta’s airport, the Nayar Golf Course encompasses all the beauty and prestige of the Nuevo Vallarta region. Jack Nicklaus Design has specially designed the course so you know the standards are high. There are ocean front holes with stunning views of the ocean and the mountains. On the inland holes, Grupo Mayan has planted indigenous flora throughout the course. There are native trees that tower above you for an added challenge to the course.
The blissful shade comes from these same trees along with the stunning flowering plants that surround the base of the trees. Looking toward the ocean you can see for miles. Turn 180 degrees and you are met with a gracious barrier of natural plants. This atmosphere creates an opportunity for you to escape from daily thoughts and be awed at the beauty of creation.
Although the daily thoughts are set aside, you will still have to concentrate on the challenging course. Jack Nicklaus Design framed the course within the beautiful landscape and they wanted you to earn every shot. You need to be top of mind to take on the Nayar Golf Course as the natural barriers, such as the ocean, as well as man-made barriers will impact one’s strategy for each hole. Also be aware of the indigenous animals that accompany you on the golf course. Alligators, iguanas, and a host of birds have been seen to make an appearance on the course. As construction winds down, the adventure of the Nayar Golf Course will thrive for many many years.

Everyone has their favorite golf ball. It could be the one that you made your “hole-in-one” or the one with which you finished your first round ever played. Or it could be the one a PGA pro tossed to you while watching a round of golf. Mostly likely there is not just one favorite ball, but a favorite brand or style of ball each golfer prefers.
At the Grupo Mayan Resorts, they strive to match you with the right ball for you and your game. If you come to Grupo Mayan Resorts wanting to learn the game of golf, you will have a different “right” ball than if you are playing on the Pro Tour. For beginners, the right ball is the cheapest ball as golf balls tend to go missing. The game of golf is really a game of finesse. If you can keep the ball in play, your desire to upgrade the golf ball will be much easier on the wallet. At Grupo Mayan Resorts, a beginner can take lessons as well as hit on the practice range before braving the 18-hole ocean front courses.
For intermediate golfers, the options for golf balls begin to get easier for you. You understand how you play the game. You might hit the ball shorter or longer and therefore the ball should maximize your game. Begin to invest in the Two Piece Low Compression balls that will help soften your short game while still giving you power in the long game.
For advanced players, the price of balls goes up as your scorecard goes down. There are a variety of balls available at this level of play. Be sure to choose the multilayer construction balls that work best for your style of play. Keep swinging the clubs and the best ball begins to reveal itself to you! Watch that magic happen at the Grupo Mayan courses designed for golfers of all types. The ocean views, perfect weather, and unbelievable scenery will make the Grupo Mayan courses on your yearly golf tour.

During Christmas time Santa is a busy man. He prepares for his yearly delivery of gifts to all the people who made the “nice” list. After his work is done, Santa enjoys a nice long vacation at the Grupo Mayan Resorts. From December 26th to about mid-January, there is a high likelihood that you can find Santa on one of the Grupo Mayan golf courses.
It has been said that Santa enjoys a break from the North Pole weather and looks for something a bit more temperate. The consistent highs in the 80s and lows in the high 60s allow Santa to leave his Santa suit at the North Pole. He has been seen sporting the top quality golf apparel from each course. He has shirts from Peninsula De Cortes, a visor from El Manglar, and a pullover from Nayar. All of these courses are designed with ocean front holes by the Nicklaus Design firm. Santa’s good taste in apparel and great taste in course selection does not mean that Santa is a golf pro.
When you come out to Grupo Mayan Resorts’ golf courses during the winter, be on the look out for more than just flying reindeer. Santa has been known to slice a few flying golf balls. His jolly nature, the incredible weather, and the spectacular setting will keep bringing you and Santa back year after year. Luckily for you, the Grupo Mayan Resorts are available to you all year around. You are not restricted by duties in the North Pole. Put away your Santa suit and enjoy the sunshine at the Mayan Resort courses.

Play your best at the beautiful Grupo Mayan Resorts golf courses! Golf club selection can be a tricky process. A common myth is, the higher the price of a club, the better your game will be. Not true! Paying high prices does not lower ones handicap, but a properly chosen club will. Consider the tips below, as suggested by www.learnaboutgolf.com, before buying your next set of golf clubs.
1. The shaft - the better the shaft, the better the club.
2. Shaft flex has a major effect on the feel of a golf club, thus it’s important when choosing clubs.
3. Shallow face metal woods are easy to hit and extremely accurate due to their low center of gravity.
4. Beginners and novice players should consider eliminating the 2, 3 and 4 irons from their set and replacing with #3 and #5 hybrid clubs.
5. All golfers should use standard length clubs unless he or she is short or tall.
6. If you are not ’standard’ length, take the guess-work out by taking a wrist to floor measurement.
7. Loft angle has a major effect on distance off the tee, so it’s important to choose the correct loft for your driving club.
8. Slicing the ball off the tee may be the biggest problem confronting golfers. The face angle of the club has a major effect on accuracy off the tee.
9. Distance - There are four basic reasons to how far a player can hit a golf ball.
- The composition of the golf ball.
- Less loft for faster speed swingers = more distance.
- The longer the club the more distance.
- The more club head speed a golfer can generate at impact, the more distance.
Play like a champ the next time you tee off at Grupo Mayan Resorts in Mexico!

The Grupo Mayan golf courses are so remarkable that you will forget about the strong Mexico sun beaming down. Every one knows that the appropriate attire for golf is a collared shirt. However, there are several different materials to choose from. To help stay cool while golfing in the heat, pick a golf shirt with breathable and moisture preventing material. A good example is the Nike Dri-FIT or Moisture Wicking golf shirts. These shirts will help you stay cool so you can enjoy the magnificent golf courses at Grupo Mayan resorts.
A crucial key to staying cool while golfing at Grupo Mayan golf courses is to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Etiquette is a very important part about golfing, and for good reason. Golfing requires a lot of concentration, so it would be difficult to make a good shot or putt with someone laughing loudly, rattling their clubs, or running around the fairway or green. Plus, the etiquette is one factor that makes a game of golf so special and unique. At Grupo Mayan Resorts, the relaxation and enjoyment of the courses would be disturbed without the appreciation of such etiquette.
Essentially, etiquette is manners, and in using proper etiquette, people are able to courteously convey their respect for one another. First, players should always be quiet. Have you ever walked on to a golf course and taken a moment to appreciate the peaceful serenity of the setting? This is thanks to the other players being considerate of the need for quiet in order to play well. Other distractions should be avoided as well, so walk, don’t run, on the course. All of these little details help make Grupo Mayan golf courses such pleasant environments.
Safety is of the utmost importance in any sport, including golf. Watch where you take your practice swing- you wouldn’t want to hit another player! Also, golf carts can be dangerous, so keep an eye out for people around you.
A common rule in golf is the 90 degree rule: drive the cart on the path until you are even with your ball (at a 90 degree angle) then you can drive onto the fairway to your ball. After you’ve hit, drive straight back to the path and continue on. This way you cause the least amount of damage to the fairway. As a polite player, you can help to maintain the beauty of the courses at Grupo Mayan Resorts by following this rule.
Another key factor: keep moving! If golfers have to wait too long between shots they can lose their patience, so here are some tips on how to keep the pace up. Think about what club you will use in advance, and just try to keep an eye on the group ahead of you. As they leave the green, be ready to hit up to the green. This is more important than worrying about keeping space with the group behind you. In doing this, everyone can enjoy Grupo Mayan courses in a timely manner.
Finally, it is polite to make a tee time. The concierge at Grupo Mayan Resorts is always ready to help you make plans no matter what activity you’re looking for, and golf is no exception!
