The top professional golfers all come together for a showdown during the PGA Tour, say the Grupo Mayan golf professionals. This tournament has its headquarters at Ponte Vedra beach in Florida, USA.

It began in 1968 when it broke off from the PGA of America. Tournament players formed a 10-member policy board that would supervise the PGA tour. After a few years of smooth running, a dispute arose with the PGA of America. The PGA Tour changed its name to TPA Tour in 1981. The World golf championship and the Tour championship give the winner a 3-year tour card. 5-year cards are awarded to the winners of major championships. A few women have in recent years played in the PGA Tour but none has gone far. All PGA Tour events are non-profit making. These events are fund raised with money going to various charities.
