What to Wear While Golfing at Grupo Mayan Resorts

Golf is a unique sport in many ways, one of them being the special attire that people wear while playing. Most sports just require some sweats, spandex, or anything that simply won’t cause you to overheat. Golf, however, calls for somewhat more sophisticated attire. Here’s some info on golfing attire so that you can look your best at Grupo Mayan Resorts golf courses!

A collared shirt is the first place to start. Generally speaking, men should wear collared shirts while playing golf, a concept created to keep men from wearing T-shirts or tank tops on the course. Collared shirts aren’t necessarily a requirement for women, but they do provide a cute solution to the common question women face everyday: what do I wear?!

Golfing attire is pretty conservative so things like belly shirts, low cut tanks, and anything else that would belong in that category should be avoided. Sleeveless shirts, though, are fine for women as long as they are modest. Keeping away from big logos, designs, and patterns is a good idea as they can distract other players. Khakis, longer shorts, and capris are all fine.

Some golf courses are more casual, while others require all the proper golfing attire, so like people say, you’re better safe than sorry! Men should stick to collared shirts, but both short and long sleeves are acceptable. Some courses require men to wear pants, but shorts are acceptable at many places so calling ahead to check is a good idea. If pants are your only option, find some that are breathable and lightweight so you don’t get too hot golfing at one of the many Grupo Mayan Resort locations, all found in tropical (and usually pretty warm) climates!

Let’s not forget footwear! Golf shoes come with or without spikes, and some courses have rules against the spiked versions as they can tear up the green. Whichever you prefer, comfort is key. Golf is a walking game, although you do often have the option of taking a cart, but make sure you are prepared to walk for a few solid hours in whatever you choose to wear on your feet.

A visor is a must if you want to protect yourself from the sun and keep the rays out of your eyes while trying to swing. Also, gloves are a good idea as they provide a better grip and protect you from blisters. Grupo Mayan Resorts want you to enjoy your golfing experience as much as possible, so remember to keep comfort in mind at all times!

Grupo Mayan Resorts Golf: Golfing Etiquette

Etiquette is a very important part about golfing, and for good reason. Golfing requires a lot of concentration, so it would be difficult to make a good shot or putt with someone laughing loudly, rattling their clubs, or running around the fairway or green. Plus, the etiquette is one factor that makes a game of golf so special and unique. At Grupo Mayan Resorts, the relaxation and enjoyment of the courses would be disturbed without the appreciation of such etiquette.

Essentially, etiquette is manners, and in using proper etiquette, people are able to courteously convey their respect for one another. First, players should always be quiet. Have you ever walked on to a golf course and taken a moment to appreciate the peaceful serenity of the setting? This is thanks to the other players being considerate of the need for quiet in order to play well. Other distractions should be avoided as well, so walk, don’t run, on the course. All of these little details help make Grupo Mayan golf courses such pleasant environments.

Safety is of the utmost importance in any sport, including golf. Watch where you take your practice swing- you wouldn’t want to hit another player! Also, golf carts can be dangerous, so keep an eye out for people around you.

A common rule in golf is the 90 degree rule: drive the cart on the path until you are even with your ball (at a 90 degree angle) then you can drive onto the fairway to your ball. After you’ve hit, drive straight back to the path and continue on. This way you cause the least amount of damage to the fairway. As a polite player, you can help to maintain the beauty of the courses at Grupo Mayan Resorts by following this rule.

Another key factor: keep moving! If golfers have to wait too long between shots they can lose their patience, so here are some tips on how to keep the pace up. Think about what club you will use in advance, and just try to keep an eye on the group ahead of you. As they leave the green, be ready to hit up to the green. This is more important than worrying about keeping space with the group behind you. In doing this, everyone can enjoy Grupo Mayan courses in a timely manner.

Finally, it is polite to make a tee time. The concierge at Grupo Mayan Resorts is always ready to help you make plans no matter what activity you’re looking for, and golf is no exception!

The Wrong Golf Ball will destroy your Game

In the past, it was much simpler to choose what kind of golf ball to use.  The choices were limited and you really did not have much choice.  Basically, it was take it or leave it.  Today, Grupo Mayan experts reveal that you have to be more choosy in which ball to use or you can destroy your game just as surely as if you had chosen the wrong club.

First, what you expect from your ball.  What should your ball do?  You might have to consider if you want more distance or more control from the ball.  Once you have considered the needs, it is time to move to testing.  Do not choose only one or two balls to test.  Pick several that will fit the needs you are looking for.  Take the chosen balls and see how they work out.

Third, test the same balls from the fringe of the green.  After hitting multiple shots, see which golf balls hit the green and check or release.  Try some putts and sand shots.  Now you have a better idea of what different balls from different manufacturers can do.  Fourth, now it is time to move to the 100-yard marker to test the balls for checking and releasing.

The fifth thing to do is to test from 150-yards.  Check out the results once again.  For the final test, you want to test the ball from the tee off.  Use a driver and hit the ball.  See how the combination of the ball and the driver work from the green to the hole.  You do not have to go to the golf course to do all this testing.  When you are at the course, you want to enjoy the game and play.  You can use a local range or practice area to test out the balls.  Different golf balls will work differently when played with different clubs.

You can have the best clubs, lessons, and tips from golfing experts but Grupo Mayan experts warn that if you have the wrong type of golf ball, your game can be disastrous.  Ask for some advice from a golf store that you can trust and you may be able to divine some extra information on what type of golf ball to use.  Remember that any advice you receive may not work exactly right for you based on your techniques and type of equipment.  Testing your choices is important to avoid using the wrong ball and destroying your game.

Grupo Mayan Resorts: Tips to Improve Your Chipping Style

Most people who are around the world of golf have heard the terms of pitching, chipping and putting which all improve your overall game but not often do you find many golfers who take chipping in their game as an advantage as well as, an important part to a lower score.

Most golfers are open to any and all suggestions that will improve their shots and their game as well and with chipping you can master your performance, say the Grupo Mayan golf professionals, because there is a series of techniques with the chip shot that will make a shot on the green successful if you have good follow-through.

Choosing the best club for a chip shot is a very fundamental part of the technique, according to the Golf professionals within the Grupo Mayan Resorts, because getting conditioned to just sticking to one club will hinder your chances at improving.  In order to choose the right club, you have to consider the type of green you are on and its slope.

Typically, most golfers like to use a 7 or 8 iron to perform a chip shot, but what some fail to remember, is depending on the green, a 5 iron can prove to be better for the shot with a better result.

Once you have cleared your mind and have it set on a specific mark, it is time to put your shot into action and this is where taking the green and slope come into play.  You have to adjust the power behind your shot according to the green, say the Grupo Mayan experts, in order to deliver the ball to where you pictured it would be.

Another thing to concentrate on would be your fly and roll which is where a golfer wants to control the fly aim to where the ball flies as short of a distance as possible but maintain a good roll on the ball.  For example, if you were to choose to do a chip shot with a 10 iron, which is also called a pitching wedge, the ball will fly half of the distance and then roll the rest of the way.  Choosing an iron for uphill versus downhill shots is also important for your chip shot, say the Grupo Mayan experts.  If you are facing an uphill shot the best iron would be best accomplished with a 4 iron, while a downhill shot requires less speed so an 8 iron would be best for this shot.

You will also find that your positioning is a factor in a chip shit because where your weight is placed in conjunction with your lead foot.  When you are in this position, say the Grupo Mayan experts, your ball should be in the middle of your feet with your hands slightly aligned to be in front of the ball.  Keeping your wrist strong and in place so that there is not a breakdown in motion as you swing for the ball is important.  In your mind, if you mimic the sway of a pendulum, this would be the best way to follow through on a chip shot.

Grupo Mayan Resorts: Putting Tips for a Better Score

A lot of people who are well into golf, already know that nine times out of ten, the good game comes from the best person who knows how to put because usually, say the Grupo Mayan experts, the win of the game always comes down to a put instead of a hole-in-one.

Most golfers will also tell you that if you miss a put, it can do just as much damage to your score as a 200-yard drive and cost you a lot of strokes in the process.

These following putting tips, say the Grupo Mayan experts, will help you lower your score as well as get you into the habit of practicing on your put as much as you practice on your swing for long drives.

It is always a good idea to familiarize yourself with the greens that you will be playing at most often because each hole and its surrounding areas will have their own uniqueness and learning where each shot should go prior to trying to achieve your par is the best strategy.

When you are ready to start reading the lines of your put, it is a good idea to keep some things in mind such as the position of the sun because that usually is what will help you determine the speed and break of your putt.  The reason the sun becomes involved is because the grass is constantly growing, it never stops, and grass also always grows into the direction of the sun.  If the sun is to the west as the ball gets closer to the hole, then it will veer off to the west.  If the sun is behind you then the grass will be pointing towards you and this means you will be putting against the grain of the grass and that will slow your ball down, whereas, say the Grupo Mayan experts, if you are putting with the grain, it speeds the ball up.

Some less serious golfers usually start their put out by positioning their feet first to the ball and then putting the club head behind the ball for the shot, say the Grupo Mayan experts.  The best method is to square the head of the club behind the ball first and then do the stance so that you can be properly squared with the hole.

Hopefully, say the Grupo Mayan experts, these tips will help improve your par and get a better read on your game play so you can improve each time you go out to the greens.

Grupo Mayan Resorts: Playing Golf on a Budget

With the economy being what it is, golf has become less affordable of a hobby and even before, not everyone had the type of financial income to be able to enjoy this sport at a country club.  There are several teens that start to get interested in golf because of the influence of family or friends, and getting started with golf, just like any other sport these days, can become quite expensive.  The following, say the Grupo Mayan experts, are some tips on how to enjoy this hobby on a budget or get into the game of golf without spending a fortune up front.

One thing that you can do before you go out and buy a bunch of expensive equipment is to try out the game on a personal level for beginners, who knows, they might not even like it.  Taking a beginner to a put-put course or a driving range is the best advice here.  Most of these places already have the equipment you can rent or borrow for a few hours.  On the other hand, say the Grupo Mayan experts, if you are not new to the game, you still do not have to go purchase expensive equipment.  Since you are not aiming to be a pro-golfer any time soon and your goal is just to get equipment so that you can enjoy this sport on your leisure time, then this is a perfect way to accomplish that.  It might take some time looking for the right clubs this way but that will be part of the fun of the shopping experience.  Take someone with you that knows about clubs and what is best for your build.

Another thing to consider here is the golf shoe.  Once again, you are not aiming to be a pro-golfer any time soon and wearing regular sports shoes, such as a cross-trainer is perfectly suitable for your needs at this point, according to the Grupo Mayan experts in Golf.  A cross-training shoe is recommended over a running shoe or regular tennis shoe because of the stability and balance that the cross-trainer can offer you during your game of golf.  Your stance while swinging your club is an important factor in the game of golf and having a shoe that helps keep you stable as you swing is very important.

Lastly, going to a practice field or driving range will allow you to rent a bucket of balls so that you do not have to worry about losing them or spending the money on them and then losing them in the process.  These balls are intended for practice as well as beginner usage on a regular course.  It is very inexpensive for a bucket of balls and they come in different sizes so that you can determine which one works best for your swing.

Using the advice above is a great way to take advantage of this hobby as well as get started in playing the game of golf.  It is great exercise and it gets you outdoors and then when you are ready for a full set of clubs of your own, say the Grupo Mayan experts, you can go to any golf store and be professionally fitted for clubs that fit you best.

Grupo Mayan Resorts: Learning the Basics of Golf-Advice for the Beginner

The game of golf requires more than just knowing how to play it, knowing all of the basics as well as knowing the equipment and maybe even the history of the game will give you a better appreciation of the sport as well as help with your game overall, say the Grupo Mayan Golf professionals.

One of the first pieces of equipment the Grupo Mayan experts recommend getting is the golf ball.  The reason they recommend this first is because these are fairly cheap, easy to pick out and you can buy in abundance most of the time.  As a beginner, you will learn that you can never have too many golf balls and you will soon find out that you will lose a lot of them.

When you are shopping for your golfing gear, it is a good idea to educate yourself on the different types of golf clubs and drivers that are available.  For a beginner, the best thing you can do is go to a professional golf store and ask to be fitted with a set of clubs.  The person there to help you will also educate you on the differences and while you are being fitted, they will also explain why each club is specifically fit best for you.

Once you have been fitted, say the Grupo Mayan experts in Golf, it is a good idea for you to make sure that the bag you choose to protect your clubs is made of high quality material as well as picking out the individual covers for each club and driver.  The last thing you want to happen to your clubs is for them to get damaged or rusted due to the elements.  Selecting a good cover will ensure that the investment of your clubs will last you a long time.  Any damage to a club can cause it to go from a great club to a horrible club.

The next thing to consider is your shoes however, with a beginner Grupo Mayan experts always recommend you to start out with just a good cross-training shoe.  Golf shoes are extremely expensive and unless you are going to be playing every chance you get or playing every weekend, there is no need to spend that kind of money in the beginning.  A good cross-training shoe versus just a regular tennis shoe will provide you with more stability at a fraction of the cost of a golf shoe.

Most golf places provide you with the tee’s that you will need to hold your ball, but you can pick these up very cheap and as with the balls, you can never have too many and you will lose them all of the time so you can buy them in abundance.

Be aware of purchasing golf equipment online until you are more seasoned.  The best thing for a beginner is to go to a golf shop, say the Grupo Mayan experts.  Initially, you might pay a little more, but it will be worth it and you won’t get ripped off.
